We have a local Natwest Bank in Harrow on the Hill. Lovely little branch and I never noticed how good it looked in the sun. Warm and inviting. I know, I know, its a bank, but still..
The building was constructed in 1914 as can be seen on the cast iron plaque.
Nice intricate terracotta work, it shows the 3 letters, N W and B entwined, standing for National Westminster Bank. Can you see the rows of sticks on the top of the walls joined with wires? They are pigeon avoidance devices, bloody flying rats would sit and crap all over the lovely warm brick.
a rather strange and startling shield up there. Wonder why.
More pigeon avoidance devices, see the spikes over all the walls? So that the pigeons wont sit on the bank walls. And then you also have the security camera which itself is covered with these spikes.
