A small tragedy

One of the small tragedies that beset us happened near our house. Ever since we moved here many many years back, John’s fruit and veg shop was an institution. It sold fresh vegetables, fruit, christmas trees during the winter and flowers during the summer. It made for a nice fresh look to the high street of the village. But one evening when I was coming down, noticed that it was closed.

Hmmm, what’s up?

The right hand side window gave up the game.

Pretty sad, isn't it? And one of the reasons can be seen from the sign below it. The rash of rules, regulations, laws and petty bureaucracy is killing the high streets leaving the same pap from the same chain of stores across the country. Pretty sad.
