The entrance to the church was brilliant

I entered into the church next to the altar and to my right was a little chapel.

Some closer views of the detail of this altarpiece. Can you imagine the awesome power, quality and abilities of the sculptors who made this wonderful piece?

On the other side of the altar is this lovely mirror which sees down the various shrines on the left aisle.

An African icon?

A beautiful statue of Christ. You can see the anguish on the figure on the right.

This is an amazing statue. Usually sculptures avoid having arms outstretched like this as that puts huge pressure on the joints and can break off. But look at this. Amazing carving.

The arch between the entrance and the chapel is separated by this glassed in iron gate.
