After going up the north nave aisle, moved into the north main transept.
Soaring stuff. Tall windows, arched roof. Beautiful.
The pillars and windows are so graceful, you cannot imagine that this delicate tracery is supporting hundreds and thousands of tons of roof and upper structures on top.
The walls are covered with a variety of marble plaques and memorials.
Sir James Erasmus Philipps who died in 1919.
Georges Lawrence who died in 1861
The tombstone of James, First Earl of Malmesbury. Quite an interesting sculpture on top, with a book.
Richard Jeffries.
The memorials went up on the walls as well.
More plaques, of a variety of shapes.
The tomb of John Blyth, Bishop. Died in 1499. He was a Chancellor of Cambridge University. The face is unfortunately missing. Quite an elaborate tomb.
A beautiful sculpture of a chap on a chair reading a book. Check out the face on the arm rest. Beautiful, but I couldnt see any plaque around it.
Quite an interesting plaque this. This is a brave soldier who died trying to help a wounded friend. Hats off.
Another very complex tomb. And the confessional next to it.
Next we move into the North Quire Aisle and the Morning Chapel.
